Abstract
Based on the results of several recent studies, this text highlights the existence of substantial tension between the functions of instruction and socialization in the practices of Quebec teachers at the primary level. The article advances that this tension leads to minimizing the importance of transmitting knowledge to students and to over-valuing the function of socialization. However, teachers appear to view this function of socialization from the standpoint of a therapeutic process, which raises a number of questions about such an orientation with respect to both aims and ethics.In all cases, authors will retain the moral rights established by law and they will yield the right of first publication of their article to the journal. The work is to be registered under the Creative Commons license, which will allow the author or other parties to use what has been published, provided the authorship of the work and the first publication conducted by the magazine are rightfully cited.
