Abstract
Givón (2001) ha señalado que las lenguas exhiben una serie de estrategias universales a través de las cuales se codifican diversos tipos de complementos oracionales. Estas estrategias participan también en otros distintos tipos de cláusulas complejas. Entre las principales estrategias de codificación de las cláusulas complejas se encuentran: I. la correferencia y la no-correferencia de los argumentos de la cláusula principal y dependiente; II la morfología verbal finita o no finita (verbos nominalizados), III la elipsis de alguno de los argumentos en cláusulas dependientes, IV el contorno entonacional, y V la presencia de algún nexo subordinante según el tipo de construcción compleja.
