Abstract
La grande plantation est un domaine de recherche qui, jusqu’à présent, a été relativement délaissé par l’anthropologie. Il est vrai que cet univers particulier est directement rattaché à l’histoire européenne, quoiqu’il s’exprime dans des terrains exotiques. En outre, si les ouvriers de la grande plantation sont fréquemment d’origine indigène, ils sont le plus souvent acculturés et évoluent dans une logique globalement capitaliste. Enfin, la grande plantation est soumise à des contraintes économiques et politiques qui la dépassent et semblent la déterminer de l’extérieur. Objet “inauthentique”, trop proche de nous, elle a peu suscité le regard distancié des anthropologues.
