Abstract
La dinámica poblacional prevaleciente en México hasta 1980 permitió establecer una estructura conceptual adecuada para interpretar las peculiaridades de dicho proceso. La crisis financiera gubernamental de 1982-1983 y los programas de ajuste trastocaron, sin embargo, la evolución de la economía instaurada desde finales de los años 40; con ello, las tendencias poblacionales y de la organización territorial de las actividades productivas fueron modificadas en su raíz, provocando una disfuncionalidad entre los procesos empíricos y la estructura conceptual que, antaño, era útil para comprenderlos.
