Abstract
En este trabajo me refiero a los sitios arqueológicos producidos por las actividades de los cazadores-recolectores del desierto del norte de México (figura 1). Para tener un punto de referencia sobre las características de estos grupos, me apoyo en los estudios etnográficos llevados a cabo en África y Australia sobre sociedades con este tipo de organización social, que habitan en el desierto. La presencia, ubicación y contenido de sus asentamientos están vinculados, por una parte, con las formas de resolver el problema de su subsistencia (Lee 1972; Meggit 1965; Yellen 1976), y por otra, con su preocupación por establecer vínculos con el mundo sobrenatural (Smits 1984).
