Abstract
En el transcurso de los últimos años, investigaciones arqueológicas realizadas en distintas zonas del Occidente de México han recuperado y analizado varias muestras del complejo funerario conocido como “tumbas de tiro” (Oliveros 1970, 1974; Galván 1976; Schóndube y Galván 1978; Galván 1991; Cabrero 1992; Cabrero y López 1993; Olay 1993; Mountjoy s.f. y Ramos com. pers.). Las nuevas evidencias han puesto en claro la necesidad de replantear la problemática general que presenta este fenómeno, no ya para tratarlo como un tema anecdótico o sensacionalista, sino para enfocarlo como un dato arqueológico, inmerso en un contexto histórico social que requiere una explicación igualmente inmersa en un contexto histórico social.In all cases, authors will retain the moral rights established by law and they will yield the right of first publication of their article to the journal.
