Abstract
En 1970, en su notable síntesis sobre la arqueología de América Central (Amérique Centrale, Collection Archaeologia Mundi), Claude Baudez escribió: “No sabemos prácticamente nada de la mayor parte del territorio que llamamos América Central, por la simple razón de que inmensas regiones esperan todavía la visita de los arqueólogos, Se trata del centro y del este de Honduras, de todo Nicaragua con excepción del suroeste del país,...” Dos décadas después, se sabe un poco más, pero tres cuartas partes del territorio nicaragilense siguen siendo terra incognita. Sin embargo, la cuarta parte restante nos ha dado la suficiente nueva información complementaria como para que sea necesario intentar una síntesis de los conocimientos acumulados durante los últimos treinta años.In all cases, authors will retain the moral rights established by law and they will yield the right of first publication of their article to the journal.
